Duck & Pup Studio:
The Full Story
Wearable art to make you POP!
Our background is illustration and storytelling, and we love all things pattern, colour, and funky jewellery.
This trip down the polymer clay road started when we fell in love with a big, wacky pair of earrings. Unfortunately, we couldn't wear the stunning beauties we'd stumbled across as the hooks didn't agree with our sensitive earlobes.
Fast forward two years to the Duck & Pup Studio, where we design, experiment, and fashion a wide collection of wearable polymer art all of which is finished with sterling silver hardware - hooks, studs, backs, chains, and bracelets.
Our creative juices tend towards bright, quirky, off-balance pieces incorporating tiny details that give that little extra punch. We have found a marvelously magic medium in polymer clay. This stuff can be rolled, pinched, cut and stuffed into anything imaginable. Then polished, shined, glossed and finished to a wide variety of textures. And in order to keep everybody's sensitive skin happy, we only use sterling silver hardware - our wonderful, shiny precious metal of choice!
We hope that every Duck & Pup piece allows the wearer to manifest their own individual voice in the form of lovingly created, unique body bling!

Wearable Art
"Every piece is so different!"
It is too easy to experiment with polymer clay! At the start, we found it very hard to stick to one design, shape, colour…trying to reproduce identical pieces so we'd be able to stock 20 of 'these', and 30 of 'those'. But who wants 'these' or 'those?
Instead, we let the polymer clay do its thing, and now the studio is crammed with beautifully unique pieces that scream, 'I'm one of a kind!' We want the wearer to feel that each earring, bracelet, ring, pendant is so different, not only from each other, but also from anything the wearer already has.

And, who doesn't want to feel comfortable while proudly exhibiting their unique wearable art?! The lightweight nature of polymer clay means the wearer can go big, big, big, and not worry about drag. While the sterling silver hardware that features in every piece, ensures calm, relaxed ear lobes.

Packaging
Reusable & Recycled
Who doesn't like a bit of tin?!
When it came to researching packaging for our pieces, we wanted to find something that could be reused. So we decided on a handy, lidded tin box. We found they are just the right size to store jewellery, trinkets, sweets, or treats.
Each box is filled with recycled, shredded glossy magazines, keeping your wearable art snug as a bug on its journey from Co. Cork, Ireland to your door.

TLC - Tender Loving Clay
Polymer clay is sturdy and flexible. But like every piece of art it needs TLC to keep it sparkling and living life to the fullest. Dropping and bending your wearable art puts it under undue pressure, and no one likes to be put under pressure, right?
We wear every design we create to ensure they stand up to ordinary wear and tear, i.e. on school runs, being pulled at by our three year old son, falling asleep on the sofa at the end of day while still wearing a pair of our favourite cut outs. And, even though we have found pairs of earrings clinging to the bottom of our backpack two weeks after wearing them - we wouldn't recommend this type of neglect. Please also bear in mind the handmade nature of the pieces, slight variations may occur.
